Hospice team members kicked off a week of pinning ceremonies at Macdonald Residence.
Veteran’s Day is an important day for Housecall Providers. On this day, we gather with community partners to recognize the courage, sacrifice and unwavering dedication of the men and women who have worn our nation’s uniform.
Across 11 communities in the Portland metro area, our Veterans Day pinning ceremonies were deeply moving tributes – moments to pause, reflect and say thank you in a way that words alone could never capture. More than 162 Veterans were personally honored with a commemorative pin, a Veterans challenge coin, and a personalized certificate, and each received a heartfelt handshake or embrace. The simple act of pinning became a powerful symbol of gratitude, connection and respect.
These ceremonies were thoughtfully planned and led by our hospice team and dedicated volunteers, whose compassion and commitment made each event truly special. Their efforts ensured that every Veteran – not just those in our hospice program – felt seen, valued, and honored, because every Veteran’s service matters.
As stories were shared, the room filled with laughter and tears. Some Veterans spoke of their service with pride, others with quiet humility, but all carried the unmistakable spirit of resilience. Family members of Veterans attended the ceremonies as well, their eyes shining with pride knowing the sacrifices made were not forgotten. These heartfelt moments reminded us why honoring Veterans is so important.
