Todd Lawrence, Housecall Providers’ (HCP) volunteer coordinator, had only been on the job for a little over two months when our hospice director, Rebecca Ashling, MSN RN, asked him to perform at our holiday party. Not only did he sing and play guitar, but Todd wrote a song about HCP that brought down the house! This story is emblematic of Todd’s style, – bringing ingenuity, creativity and a splash of fearlessness to all that he does.

Todd was recognized for these qualities and more when he was selected to the Oregon Hospice Association (OHA) Dream Team in the Professional Services category at the annual conference held October 2, 3, and 4 at the Inn at Seventh Mountain in Bend, OR.  He was joined on the “Dream Team” by hospice professionals throughout the state representing the following disciplines: physician; nurse; hospice aid; chaplain; volunteer; and social worker.

“I see this award as a reflection of all of the amazing people here at Housecall Providers. Were it not for the teamwork of my coworkers, and the daily efforts of our volunteers, this program would not be nearly what it is today.”  Todd reflected.

In the time since Todd arrived at HCP, the level of volunteer participation has grown substantially. More importantly, the quality of our volunteer interactions has been transformed.  From the volunteer’s first interview, through training and beyond, – Todd does a wonderful job of underlining our mission and making sure volunteers always feel appreciated and inspired. Kate Miller, administrative volunteer, noted this special quality, “What I always sense from Todd is that he wants to make my volunteer experience as positive as it can be.”

As a colleague, Todd is an asset beyond compare and makes the workplace fun and energetic. He is always available to assist with projects, even if they fall outside the scope of his job description, like working on our social media campaign or clinician recruitment efforts. Humble, hard-working and always upbeat, Todd is the perfect fit for an organization that always goes the extra mile for its patients.
